Nature Play Week is a special time to celebrate the joy and importance of children connecting with the natural world. It encourages families and communities to get outdoors, explore, and learn through hands-on experiences in nature.

Spending time outside supports children’s wellbeing, creativity, problem-solving, and imagination, while also fostering a love and respect for the environment.

Here are some simple and fun ideas to enjoy nature play these school holidays:

  •  Go on a nature scavenger hunt (leaves, sticks, feathers, rocks)

  •  Create nature art using found materials

  •  Explore bugs and mini-beasts in the garden

  •  Splash in puddles or play with water and mud

  •  Build a cubby or small shelter using natural materials

  •  Take a family walk and talk about what you see, hear, and feel

No matter how big or small the adventure, time spent outdoors is always meaningful.

We’d love to see your nature play adventures, feel free to share your photos with us!
